Why a Tummy Tuck?

Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure that removes skin and fat from the middle to lower abdomen and tightens the abdominal muscles for a sleeker, more defined appearance. Tummy Tucks are considered a major surgery, so it is important that you discuss all of your questions and concerns with Dr. Kelly Sullivan during your private consultation.

Tummy Tuck Procedure & Results
A tummy tuck requires a horizontal incision in the area between the pubic hairline and navel. The shape and length of the incision will be determined by the degree of correction necessary. Through the incision, weakened abdominal muscles are repaired and sutured and excess fat, tissue and skin is removed. A second incision around the navel may be necessary to remove excess skin in the upper abdomen.
An abdominoplasty, takes approximately one to three hours depending on whether it is a mini, standard or extended abdominoplasty. Tummy tuck surgery is done on an outpatient basis with general anesthesia. Because safety is always our first concern, Dr. Sullivan always works with board-certified Maryland anesthesiologists to ensure that your surgery is as safe as possible.
